The South Patient Tower Addition has received a 2024 Jeffrey J. Zogg Build New York Award. The project was one of six this year to receive the honor, presented by the  (AGC NYS).

ÍøÆØÃÅ served as construction manager – working with – on the four-story, 80,000-SF vertical expansion and penthouse, built above Highland’s existing operating rooms and surgical services observation unit. The newly expanded space provides approximately 58 new private patient rooms on three floors, with one floor dedicated to future build-out. Additionally, 10,000 SF of renovations were completed throughout the existing building to accommodate the necessary connections to the new tower.

The Zogg Build New York Award program honors industry-leading construction projects from across New York State. A 10-member jury of industry peers selects winners based on outstanding management skills, imagination, overcoming challenging and unusual circumstances, scheduling accomplishments and project innovation. Winners will be honored at an event in Spring 2025

Earlier this year, the South Patient Tower project also received a Rochester Business Journal Top Project Award and the Innovation and Construction Management Award from the Construction Specifications Institute Rochester Chapter.

The Paychex Junior Achievement Discovery Center project has received a 2024 Excellence in Partnering Award from the . Each year, the award honors project teams that have achieved the high ideals of both formal and informal partnering on construction projects across the state.

ÍøÆØÃÅ partnered with and architect on the design-build project, which celebrated its grand opening in February. The completed Discovery Center – the first of its kind in New York State – provides students with the opportunity to apply classroom lessons in a real-world setting. The center features 19 different storefronts where students become citizens in a simulated economy, exploring various careers, workforce readiness, and financial literacy.

ÍøÆØÃÅ Regional Director of Business Development Mike Corey was joined by Scott Townsend from SWBR to accept the award at a ceremony on December 11.

ÍøÆØÃÅ received two 2024 Excellence in Construction awards from the , at a ceremony on November 7.

The Duke University Sheffield Tennis Center project earned the Eagle Award in the Renovations/Restorations: $5M – $10M category. ÍøÆØÃÅ partnered with architect to upgrade the facility, adding a 1,200-SF addition with expanded locker rooms, a student-athlete lounge, an operations area with a press box and upgraded athletic medicine and coaches’ spaces. Work also included the addition of the 3,500-SF Curtin Plaza and, after the 2022-23 season, the rebuilding of all 12 outdoor courts.

The Durham Public Schools Murray-Massenburg Elementary School project received a Merit Award in the Schools: Over $50M category. Serving as construction manager, ÍøÆØÃÅ worked with and construction management partner to deliver the new three-story school. Comprised of several wings centered around a courtyard, the facility embraces natural surroundings – providing various non-conventional indoor and outdoor learning spaces. Addressing occupant-focused standards like natural lighting, air quality, and noise reduction, the school is on track to be the nation’s first WELL-certified K-12 facility.

Located at 25 Delaware Avenue, the new, affordable housing complex named Station 25 revitalized Albany’s Historic Fire Signal Equipment Building.

ÍøÆØÃÅ served as the general contractor – through the Conifer-ÍøÆØÃÅ joint venture – on the $22 million project, which celebrated its opening with a . The new wood-framed apartment building provides 51 affordable housing units with a fitness center, lounge and other amenities located in the adjacent restored masonry building.

ÍøÆØÃÅ has been awarded three 2024 Regional Best Projects Awards from . The publication conducts the Regional Best Projects competition each year. ÍøÆØÃÅ was recognized for the following:

The UR Medicine Orthopaedics and Physical Performance Center project received top honor in the healthcare category. ÍøÆØÃÅ partnered with architects SLAM and Perkins + Will to create the new space for UR Medicine. Built on the site of local shopping mall, the facility is one of the largest and most comprehensive orthopaedic surgery and outpatient care centers in the Northeastern U.S. It features a surgery center, procedure suite, advanced imaging center, patient clinic and a 58,000-SF Center for Human Athleticism and Musculoskeletal Performance Prevention.

The Strong National Museum of Play: Expansion, Renovations and Parking Structure project received the Best Project award in the sports and entertainment category. ÍøÆØÃÅ served as the construction manager on the multi-year project, partnering with The Strong, owner’s representative Cornerstone and CJS Architects to add fresh exhibits, updated amenities and more interactive play areas at the museum. This project was previously recognized with a 2024 Construction Risk Partners Build America Award from the Associated General Contractors of America.

The Victory Lofts Historic Renovation project received top honor in the renovation and restoration category. ÍøÆØÃÅ partnered with Paulus Development to transform the long-vacant factory into 156 upscale market-rate apartments, along with space for future retail. Today, units in the Victory Lofts offer modern amenities, while maintaining an industrial feel through features like concrete ceilings and exposed brick. This project also received a 2024 Construction Risk Partners Build America Award from the Associated General Contractors of America earlier this year.

On Thursday, July 25, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) downtown Buffalo headquarters project received top honor in the Historic Preservation category at Buffalo’s Brick by Brick Awards.

Given annually by  magazine, the awards recognize best-in-class real estate, construction and development in Western New York.

ÍøÆØÃÅ served as the construction manager for the renovation project, which restored many historic elements of the building while rejuvenating 54,000 square feet on floors 3 through 5 to provide a contemporary and vibrant new headquarters space for the . The project also integrated new MEP, HVAC and safety systems within the building.

ENR New York, a key publication covering the state’s engineering and construction industry, has named ÍøÆØÃÅ its 2024 New York Contractor of the Year.

Each year, the publication selects one firm to spotlight based on criteria that include business success, key projects and community engagement across the state.

ÍøÆØÃÅ, which eclipsed $1 billion in revenue in 2023, is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. The firm consistently ranks as upstate New York’s largest contractor and has seven offices across the state, as well as operations in New Jersey, North Carolina and Maryland.

Recently, two ÍøÆØÃÅ projects – the Southeast Patient Tower and Max Lowenthal Hall – were recognized at the 2024  (CSI) Rochester Chapter Awards.

CSI is a technical organization that works to organize, standardize and communicate construction information. The annual CSI Rochester Chapter Awards recognize Rochester-area projects in a variety of different categories.

The Highland Hospital Southeast Patient Tower project received the Innovation and Construction Management Award. This award recognizes innovation and exceptional teamwork between the construction manager, subcontractors and design team to improve the process, quality and outcome of a project. ÍøÆØÃÅ Vice President Kevin Hoffman accepted this award alongside the team from Highland Hospital.

Our partners at received the Out-of-the-Box Design Award for the Rochester Institute of Technology Max Lowenthal Hall expansion project. This award highlights projects that promote the innovative use of conventional materials or methods in new ways. ÍøÆØÃÅ served as the construction manager on the project.

ÍøÆØÃÅ was also a sponsor of the 2024 awards dinner held at the Rochester Museum and Science Center.

On April 16, two ÍøÆØÃÅ projects received honors at the 2024 New York State Historic Preservation Awards. Presented by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation’s Division for Historic Preservation, these awards recognize excellence in the protection and revitalization of historic and cultural resources.

The Bent’s Opera House historic renovation and restoration project was the inaugural recipient of the Joan K. Davidson Award. ÍøÆØÃÅ served as construction manager on the project, which transformed the previously vacant building into a modern destination. Today, the facility includes an upscale, farm-to-table restaurant and bar, a boutique hotel with 10 uniquely themed rooms, and a beautifully restored theater for private and public gatherings. ÍøÆØÃÅ team members Chris Kulik, Charlie Spencer and Nate Scheffinger accepted the award alongside Bent’s co-owner Heather Hungerford, and the team from Kideney Architects.

The Victory Lofts historic renovation project received an Excellence in Historic Building Preservation, Rehabilitation, or Restoration award. ÍøÆØÃÅ partnered with Paulus Development to transform the long-vacant Endicott-Johnson (EJ) Victory Shoe Factory into 156 upscale market-rate apartments complete with amenities and space for future retail. Matthew Paulus, founder and president of Paulus Development attended the event and accepted the award.
