��, LLC is pleased to announce that two of its operational leaders have been named executive vice presidents.

Seth London
Based in Durham, NC, Seth London will continue to lead ��’s southeast region, with a focus on expanding the company’s business in North Carolina and surrounding areas. London, who has over two decades of experience in all phases of construction, joined �� in the 2016 acquisition of a multinational contractor’s North Carolina operations, which he had been leading. He was named a �� vice president in 2018 and senior vice president in 2024. He has an MBA in finance, as well as a BS in construction engineering and management, from North Carolina State University.

“Seth’s personal integrity and values are key reasons many of the employees who were part of the 2016 acquisition joined our already talented southeast team and remain part of our organization today,” said �� President Kyle Sayers. “Seth also excels in building relationships with outside partners, which has driven significant growth and brand recognition for �� in the southeast. I can’t think of a better steward of the �� culture as we work to further expand our reach in that geography.”

Brian Russo
Based in Rochester, NY, Brian Russo currently provides executive oversight to ��’s self-perform business, several joint ventures and several of the firm’s New York State offices. He will broaden that role to cover more geographies and initiatives, primarily in the northeast. Russo joined �� in 2011 as the preconstruction lead for Conifer-�� Construction, after serving as a project engineer, cost estimator and chief estimator at other firms. He was named operations manager in 2013, appointed vice president in 2016 and senior vice president in 2022. He attended Pennsylvania State University, earning a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering. He also has LEED AP® certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

“Brian’s broad industry experience has given him a keen sense of field operations, the construction process, and customers, “ Sayers noted. “He knows how to set-up projects for success, as evidenced by a track record of delivering high-quality, on-time, and on-budget results. He also does an exemplary job of sharing his knowledge to mentor and develop others within the organization.”

These promotions, effective immediately, mark the first senior leadership changes Sayers has made since being named �� president last October. “As �� continues to grow, it’s critical to have exceptional leaders like Brian and Seth who thoroughly understand both our company and the industry,” he said. “As resources to our SBUs, they will help refine strategies and drive timely decisions – making us nimbler and more effective in our pursuit of new opportunities going forward.

Colonial Quad project celebrates safety milestone

On Friday, July 21, the Colonial Quad project celebrated a safety milestone, marking 75,000 work hours without a lost-time incident. A cookout was held to thank the nearly 50 subcontractors who worked together to ensure that safety was the number one priority on the job. �� team members hosting the event were Project Executive Tim Hanke, Project Manager Kaleigh Kupiec, Superintendent Rick Elsenbeck and Project Engineer Brent Bocheneck.

��, through its Capital Region office, is the prime general contractor for the $37.8 million project, which consists of a complete renovation of an existing dormitory at the . Work is set to be completed in the spring of 2024.

�� team presents at Durham Tech construction camp

On July 18, the �� Southeast team visited to give a presentation as part of the school’s construction summer camp. Project Executive Kathryn Payne led a discussion on the lifecycle of a project and explained to students how a building can go from a simple napkin sketch to reality.

All participants in this week-long engineering and skilled-trades camp are students at Durham Public Schools (DPS), so the team shared information about the projects that �� is currently working on in the district.

The team on the Murray-Massenburg Elementary School project – ��’s Stuart Short and Brandt Smith from – were joined by BIM specialist, AJ Mullins, and interns Nayla Seda and Jacob Haigler to talk to students about that DPS project. They shared videos of rock blasting, drone overviews and gave specific examples of how a project comes to life. The students were also given the opportunity to fly around the BIM model, which helped them correlate real-life photos with the 3D images.

First precast cell unit placed at Genesee County Jail project

The Genesee County Jail project recently marked a milestone as crews set the first modular precast cell unit into place. �� is the general construction/general trades contractor for the new 80,000-SF jail, which will have 184 cells across four pods, as well as an administrative building and a standalone maintenance building.

The precast cells are made in a factory in Pennsylvania. Between six and eight cells are being trucked to the project site for installation every day. Each arrives fully painted and furnished with a bed, sink and toilet. All openings, piping, and conduits are also cast into each cell, along with window and door frames.

Prior to placing the first precast cell, �� completed foundation work for the pods as well as the slab-on-grade and roof for the administration building. Masonry work at the site started in October and will continue through the spring. Remaining cells should be in place by mid-March. Substantial completion of the overall project is expected in early 2024.

Field School promotes teamwork, sharing among SE region employees

The �� Southeast Region has kicked off a 12-part Field School series for employees. The goal of the sessions, which will occur throughout 2023, is to create unity and share knowledge between the regional team members. Individuals can attend any, or all, of the sessions being offered.

General Superintendent JD Coomer led 27 attendees for the initial session, which focused on the importance of teamwork. He kicked off the conversation with an analogy between construction teams and a team of draft horses. A single draft horse can pull 8,000 pounds. Two horses that have never worked together can pull 24,000 pounds, yet two horses that have worked and trained together can pull 32,000 pounds. The lesson is that experienced teams can exponentially multiply their ability and potential. Attendees at the session also added their various experiences working on past projects and teams.

The �� Field School will happen once a month. Each will be led by a local �� authority on a particular topic or discipline. The goal is to hold the sessions in person rather than via Zoom. Most will be in the office or on job sites; one will include a field trip to a local concrete testing lab. The next session, in February, will focus on safety. The region believes that the effort could serve as a pilot for similar programs in other regions across the company.

UR laser lab expansion marks topping out

On December 22, �� helped celebrate a topping out at the expansion of the University of Rochester . A tradition in the construction industry, a topping out marks the final beam being placed atop a project’s structure.

�� built the original LLE facility, and is serving as CM-at-Risk for construction of the new three-story addition. The project broke ground in August, and is slated for completion in spring 2024. The addition will provide more office, clean room and lab spaces, including space for a new state-of-the-art AMICA laser system.

A December 15 event put a spotlight on the world’s first installation of a Clean Cube operating room in a university medical center setting. �� installed the breakthrough offering, which will open in the coming weeks at the UR Medicine at Marketplace Mall.

Clean Cube technology provides benefits in design, construction and function of operating rooms. Its prefabricated walls and parts snap together quickly, which helped speed on-site construction at the UR Medicine site. Its glass walls, next-generation air handling and automated disinfection control systems aid in preventing infections in busy surgery centers. Additional smart motion capture and analysis technologies help enable fine-tuning of surgical teams’ workflows and processes.

Kiernan Recreation Center featured in Building Western NY

Niagara University’s Kiernan Recreation Center renovation is among the project featured in the Fall/Winter 2022 edition of Building Western New York. �� Regional Operations Manager Jeff Panza and Project Executive Nate Scheffinger provided comments for the story.

�� served as general contractor on the Kiernan Recreation Center project, which broke ground in July 2021. The scope included construction of an 18,000-SF addition to house a new weight room, sports medicine suite, dance studios, locker rooms, storage, meeting spaces and offices. Work also covered improvements and infrastructure enhancements to the existing facility.

�� recently installed the Clean Cube operating room (OR) at the new Surgery Center of the ’s Orthopaedics and Physical Performance Center, which will open in January 2023. The Clean Cube OR at the Center is the world’s first fully functioning, technologically complete smart-cube room of its kind in an academic institution.

For more than 35 years, �� has worked with the University of Rochester (UR) on more than $1 billion of healthcare and higher education projects. ��’s history – and the respect between these two entities – prompted �� to recommend Synergy Med’s Clean Cube product to the UR with these important considerations:
