Syracuse University | National Veterans Resource Center (NVRC) at the Daniel and Gayle D’Aniello Building
A first of its kind multi-use facility, Syracuse University鈥檚 NVRC is a center for research and programs aimed at enhancing the lives of our nation鈥檚 veterans and their families. In addition to classrooms, offices and flexible meeting spaces for community use, the NVRC includes a number of unique features. A full glass curtain wall surrounds the building, with decorative fins topping the third-floor fa莽ade. An oval 750-seat auditorium features advanced audio-visual capability and unique 鈥渂asketweave鈥 wooden walls. A towering tree-like feature wall outside the auditorium arches up and across the ceiling. Extensive ramps enable visitors to move between entrances and the auditorium鈥檚 upper-level without using stairs or an elevator. The facility even offers a rooftop parade grounds. Reflecting the University鈥檚 sustainability efforts, the project was built to LEED Gold庐 standards, with special efforts to reduce waste and promote efficient operation.
